Village Groups
Village groups offer a fun way for residents to connect while helping the community and environment thrive. Below are some current groups, and a few are looking for hosts! If you would like to host or start a group, please do, just let us know about it and we will pop the information on this page. You can also visit the Events page to see if there are any upcoming activities you can book on to.
Have Fun!

Village Fete Committee
This is a group led by Kate and David, who organise the village fete each year. If you would like to be involved in the fete, hosting a stand, contributing an item, volunteering some time, please just reach out and get in touch.

CHUPPA
Join in for a cuppa and cake and a sing-along if you like. Hosted at St Mary's Church, for all and no religions.
Organised by Carrie, email her to find out more.

Eco-Crafting & Upclycing Club
Katherine and Georgina run workshops for making eco-friendly crafts from nature's gifts, (seed heads, leaves etc) or upcycling household items. This includes seasonal decorations or DIY gift-making.

Community Repair Cafe
Linking with Bradford on Avon's Repair Cafe, these sessions where people bring broken items (like clothes, electronics, and furniture) to be fixed with help from volunteers, are promoted on our social media pages and events page. This is hosted in partnership with: SHARE AND REPAIR

Garden Share and Grow Group
Members share gardening space, tools, and plants. Host "green thumb" days where people work in each other's gardens, swap seedlings, or have hidden garden tours.

Walking Group
LOOKING FOR A HOST: Regular walks around the village and local trails, with themes like "Heritage Walk" or "Wildflower Trail." Include a "Walk & Talk" for new members or people who want to make friends.

Wildlife and Nature Walks
LOOKING FOR A HOST: Organise wildlife walks, birdwatching mornings, or monthly nature talks. You could also arrange nature photography sessions, moth trapping, or butterfly counts.

History Group
LOOKING FOR A HOST: Wingfield and Stowford is full of fascinating history, this group delves into the area's past and discusses how to preserve that knowledge and our heritage.

Advent Windows Group
Carrie kindly organises a village Advent Windows Display. Each participating house creates an advent scene in their window that is visible from the road or their drive way. This is lit up to be easily seen. Given a number 1-24, on the appropriate advent date they light their window and put out a bowl of chocolates for the village children to collect.

Your Group!
LOOKING FOR A HOST: What group do you want to see here? Let's set one up. Email us for support and to talk through ideas.

Skills Swap Circle
LOOKING FOR A HOST: Members offer a skill or service (like cooking, sewing, carpentry, IT help) in exchange for learning from others. Organise monthly meetups where everyone can share or learn something new.

PotLuck and Storytelling Night
LOOKING FOR A HOST: Organise monthly potlucks where each person brings a dish to share. Add a storytelling element, inviting people to share memories, funny stories, or cultural tales.

GoodGym Buddy Programme
LOOKING FOR A HOST: Pair older residents with younger volunteers for weekly visits, gardening, board games, or crafting sessions. Plan monthly meetups for everyone to gather. Get fit by helping others with physical activities.

Village Book & Film Group
LOOKING FOR A HOST: Alternate between a book club one month and a film night the next. Choose books and films that tie into environmental or social themes.
